HANUMAN, AS MUKHYA PRANAY, IN HIS ORIGINAL FORM, IS THE MAIN BREATH OF OUR LIFE! WITHOUT HIM BREATHING IN US, WE ARE DEAD!

Hanuman, being mainly the incarnation of Lord Vayu (the would be Brahma - the creator after the present Brahma retires) and the Eleventh Rudra -there are eleven Rudras - disciples of Vayu), is the foremost and most powerful devotee of Lord God next to Brahma. Thus, Hanuman is a such a personality - actually “two super souls” occupying the same body.

The mightiest Monkey faced-God is known to possess a number of yogic powers by virtue of his birth. In fact, Hanuman is born of the same solid payasam (a sweet food - boon given by Lord Agni to Rama's father Dasharatha - in Ramayana Epic, after eating which Dasharatha's three queens gave birth to Rama and his three brothers) as you can read in my other answer on Rama on Quora. Hanuman (a symbol all souls) is cursed by sages to forget his powers since they mistook his mischievous childhood attitude and thought Hanuman was too young to handle great powers (yogic consummations). We all too likewise have the powers he possesses but have forgotten them by curse of Nature. Hanuman, even as a child, never made any mistakes. He was perfect soul. Also known as Maruti, the Monkey-God was destined to remember all his powers when the right moment came.

Along with flying at the speed of mind, Hanuman's other powers include the following eight powers known as 8 main siddhis which any capable person and one who is practicing yoga can attain after sufficient purification and great deal of practice - sadhana under guidance of a suitable master.

1) अणिमा - Anima: Ability to reduce one's body size to very small - even as small as an anu -an atom

2) महिमा - Mahima: Ability to expand one's body size to a very large size.

3) गरिमा - Garima: Ability to become extremely heavy.

4) लघिमा - Laghima: Ability to become weightless or extremely light.

5) प्र्राप्ति - Prapti: Ability to reach/access all places (his hand can reach anywhere being where one is).

6) प्राकाम्या - Prakamya: Ability to obtain by will power whatever one desires.

7) ईशत्व - Isitva: Ability to exercise lordship over all animate and inanimate things, i.e. to control creation, destruction and aggregation of things or ability to defy the laws of nature (of course except God, Mother Goddess and the equals).

8) वस्तव - Vasitva: Ability to subjugate all, make other obey (except as above).

After attaining these siddhis, one is not affected by fire, air, water, etc.

There are hundreds of others siddhis which one can attain as per Indian scriptures.

The source of Hanuman's eight siddhi's is YOGA itself. Anyone who practices Yoga suitably under a Master can attain these siddhis, not just Hanuman.

Yoga prescribes 8-fold steps (Ashtanga yoga) to attain these 8 siddhis (and many more).

Along with these, Hanuman had other siddhis too such as doora shravana (hearing at a distance); he was the cleverest person in the universe (Hanuman is supposed to be an all-knower - a sarvajna), had divya drishti (third eye - could see anything happening anywhere in the world by yogic power).

Each one of these siddhis which thousands of other Yogis in India have achieved, is more potent than all the powers of any Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc., individually or all put together!

The Superman's powers are ability to fly high in sky and in space, go into deep water, super strength, x-ray vision, invulnerability, great speed, heat vision, freezing breath, super flare and superhuman senses, etc., which are figments of imagination are very minuscule like a particle of dust when compared the mind-blowing powers of Hanuman. Superman's source of energy is Sun's beams. But, Hanuman is the power behind the power of Sun.

In Ramayan, Hanuman claims that he can split the whole UNIVERSE INTO TWO PIECES and play cymbals with them! HE IS UNIMAGINABLY POWERFUL!

When we compare Superman with Hanuman, he is just a spec of dust, so he would not be able to stand even a fraction of a second before Hanuman in a direct fight as would be immediately immobilized.

Hanuman once claimed that he can break the world into two parts and play cymbals with them and Lord God Rama agrees that indeed Hanuman could do that! That means, Hanuman is strong enough to break the whole world into two parts. He can grow so big as the size of the whole world (Brahamand)!

Actually, Hanuman is the Avatar of Vayu (One of the 100 Greatest of SOULS to become future Brahmas, known as Mukhya Prana - The Main Energy) who is everywhere just as God (i.e. omnipresent but subordinate to God).

Hanuman is known to be a perfect brahmachari - a 100% celibate. He would never be tempted by any beautiful lady as he is known a Jitendriya - one who has conquered all his senses. Poor Superman is very weak indeed in this respect.

The additional information such as -being blessed by demi-gods or angels to be immortal (never die), never be affected by any weapon, etc. are supplementary. Hanuman had the siddhi - or technique to be in many places at a time which is known as bahuroopitwa siddhi (ability to create as many forms of oneself as possible).

This world is a real world where time ticks continuously and moves in the forward direction for a purpose. To top it all, Hanuman has the ability to turn the time itself backwards to unwind things that have already occurred, which no one but God and mother Goddess can do.

Also Hanuman could change his form into any shape, animal or human being including females. This siddhi or perfection is known as Ishtaroopa siddhi.

The lifting and fetching a whole mountain as mentioned in the Epic of Ramayan during Rama and Ravana's battle is an evidence to his ability to increase his body size and enormous strength. In India, hundreds of thousands of people chant Hanuman Chalisa - a verse in praise of Hanuman to be blessed to become strong and not be afraid of anything.

Hanuman Stotra (Verse in Praise) to be chanted daily.

Buddhir balam, yasho dhairyam, nirbhayatvam arogataha, ajadyam vakpatutvancha Hanumad smaranat bhavet …

which means: His regular remembrance (smaran) is believed to result in High Intellect (Strength of Buddhi), Physical and Mental Strength, Success, Courage, Sound Health without any disease, power of oratory, driving away evil spirits, etc.

Hanuman is actually representative of breath energy in our body. i.e. by doing suitable pranayama - (breathing exercises), one can increase one's potential, improve health and be stronger, become cleverer, speak better, etc.

Hanuman, when he went in search of Ram's wife, is known to have alone killed half of Ravana's army of 100 crores demons and in the final war with Ravana, killed half his army.

It is believed in India philosophy, he is the power which connects all the souls with the God. One can make an AUTHENTIC MYTHOLOGICAL Great 3D movie out of the life story of Hanuman and it can become a world hit!

Hanuman exists in our bodies as five breaths or energies (i.e. prana, apana, vyana, udana and samana) which in turn control all our body functions represented by his five faces below. Doing breathing exercises is equivalent to worshiping Hanuman.
