A take on the Ceasefire Decision:

Positives:
1. Many civilian lives are now out of danger across the border.

2. Our Army personnel are safe and no longer have to engage in daily escalations.

3. Pakistan is run by the Army, not politicians or civilians, so they had nothing to lose. At some point, China would likely have supported Pakistan.

4. India, being a developing and financially growing nation, made the right decision to cease hostilities early. We now have a great opportunity if we seize it, amid the ongoing trade tensions between the US and China.

5. Bangladesh might have learned a lesson from this on the eastern border.

6. We demonstrated to the world what we are capable of, and now neighboring countries will think twice before going against us.

Negatives:
1. We missed a big chance to damage the Pakistan Army morally and physically.

2. Even though we showcased our power and military capabilities, this also gave our enemies (not just Pakistan) an idea of our strengths and weaknesses. Next time they will come stronger.

3. Had the ceasefire not been agreed upon so soon, the situation in POK might have been very different this time.

4. We broke Pakistan’s military structure and base, but now they will seek financial support and rebuild over the years—only to repeat the same actions through terrorist attacks, and next time they will be better prepared.

5. Once again, the US got what it wanted—a moral victory by claiming they were the ones who stopped the conflict.

6. Politically, the BJP missed an opportunity to strengthen its position in India. The entire country was united, with no internal pressure on the government, which could have helped them for the next 25 years.

7. Pakistan was already bleeding financially. India had a great opportunity to increase pressure from the east and potentially gain control over POK, especially since Pakistan was already stretched thin dealing with Baloch and Afghan border issues.

It’s easy for me to say, based on the knowledge I have, but I was hoping the operation would have continued for at least 10–15 more days. It would have given us a significant geopolitical edge and a opportunity to somehow solved the long going issue with Pakistan.

In the operation sindoor was partially successful without reaching to its full potential and a missed opportunity. We Indians never learn from our History.
