Welcome to SimpCity, the largest, most popular online forum to become one of the internet's most controversial communities. It's a digital metropolis, with over 2.9 million registered users, 265,000+ threads and 6+ million posts, it's a place of user-generated content, sharing and discussion. However, what is SimpCity, and what is their culture like? This guide explains the platform and the unwritten etiquettes of it.

What Is SimpCity?

SimpCity is an underground forum network through which content is shared and discussed, much of it behind paywalls, such as subscription platforms like Patreon. It's a self deprecating reference to the internet slang terms used, "simp" is used to describe someone who shows too much adoration for an online creator and "city" is used to describe a large active community.

It's in a legal gray zone. Accessing or sharing pirated content can incur legal penalties in many countries, and this is why SimpCity is always changing its domain name and is currently on .su, .cr and other domains.

The SimpCity Platform Features:

SimpCity is based upon XenForo forum software and provides a familiar and structured user experience:

Thread-Based Structure: Discussions are broken down into categories and available sub-forums to help you easily browse, search and join conversations that are on-trending.
Public Main Boards: These are the boards that are open to all and are used for general discussion and sharing of information.
Private Forum: An area where only registered members who have fulfilled a specified set of criteria may be able to access the forum. This section provides for less sensitive content and for exclusive content.
Telegram Group: SimpCity has a Telegram channel to provide updates and real-time notifications.
User Profiles and Reputation: Members can develop profiles and acquire reputation via quality contributions, like other major forums.
The platform is very social and interactive, with users actively creating, reviewing and commenting on content. This human aspect provides an extra element of quality control and community oversight that automated systems cannot.

Community Culture: The Unwritten Rules

But what really makes Simp City special is its unique culture. The following are the principles that every member should know:

Not all lurkers are bad.

Newer members who have just registered are strongly encouraged to lurk first: read through threads to get a feel for what people are talking about and how to do it, and learn what kinds of posts are getting a positive response. If you don't introduce yourself properly, you'll be quickly out of place.

Give before you need it!

The golden rule of SimpCity is to give before you take. The community is very sharing and members don't like users who just make demands. Generally, the individuals who post requests, particularly whining or entitled ones, are regarded as "leeches" and treated with hostility. Establish yourself as a contributor and then you will be much more welcome if you make requests.

Show respect to the contributors and moderators

The rule of thumb is to be civil in any large community, and tensions can get high. Harassment, bigoted language, and personal attacks will not be tolerated and are a fast-track ban. Even more important, show respect to those who contribute – those who regularly provide quality contributions are the lifeblood of SimpCity. Veterans will keep in mind who is and who is not contributing.

Be Safe and Be Alert!

SimpCity is a danger-filled area. Phishing scams, malware, intrusive ad networks, and possible data breaches are all threats to users. Always check the URL of the website you are visiting, always use a VPN, use an ad blocker and never use the same password in more than one place.

Conclusion

SimpCity is not only a forum but a vibrant online community, a language, a sense of humor, and a sense of identity. New members must learn how to use the platform, adhere to community rules, add value and be cautious in terms of personal safety. Come with an open mind, a culture of sharing, and you'll find your way in this fast-paced digital hotspot.
